Hi everyone, 5 years ago my husband and I decided it was time for change. lol not known for doing things by halves we moved our little family to New Zealand (Mum, Dad & 2 teenagers 13 & 15) It's been a great move for us all especially the opportunity to be able to spend more time with our family. Of course 2 months after we arrived so did covid. We spent the next few years supporting our children through their transition to life in New Zealand and from young teenagers into adults. They are now well and truly independent which leaves time now to follow some lifelong passions which leads me on to introduce our exciting new projects.
When I first started this journey in my late teens my passion was (and still is) textile design. For many years I hand painted silk scarves, linen and cotton clothing which I sold at various markets around Northern New South Wales and Queensland.
Progressing to establishing my label in 2007 Rabosi Design, clothing which I designed made and sold throughout Victoria until we left Australia in 2019.
Now that we are moving onto acreage again in New Zealand I will be expanding on this theme and planting a garden with specific plants for naturally dying fabrics. We'll also be looking at composting and other ways of dealing with our off cuts. I'll upload some photos once we get started.
My other passion is is using natural fibres and offcuts for embroidery and artwork that I add to my garments which makes them the unique one of a kind pieces that they are. I use lots of different fibres for these such as organically dyed silk thread, reclaimed torn sari silk fabric to name a few.
